No dress code at work? Are you fed up with sweatshirts and old jeans? Do you want the workmates to treat you better? Do you start waiting for weekend starting from Monday? Here are some thoughts to cheer you up.
Hello guys! Happy day is finally here (I mean Friday). For the next two days we can belong to ourselves. And nobody can make us do what we do not want, even for money. On weekend there will be no "lovely" boss, no computer monitor, no tired eyes, no early wake-ups. On weekend we belong to ourselves ONLY!!! Yooohooo!!!
I made this post for every working girl and boy to cheer you up, and may be for showing off.
Some of us have dress codes at work, which we do not embrace with open heart. Boys can be tired of wearing suites and ties, girls are tired of heels, figure hugging pencil skirts, make-up and hair styles. Some of us do not have dress codes and are allowed to wear jeans and sweatshirts 5 days a week. Among these two main groups of people I can single out a funny paradox - those who have to follow a strict dress code dream of wearing old jeans, and those for whom its more comfortable to wear jeans and a sweatshirt due to highly active and always-on-the-go job, dream of heels and dresses.
My advise to you - if you can slightly violate a dress code and won't be fired for that, then do violate it! If wearing heels instead of trainers will make you feel good, you should do it.
For instance, I work at construction site, but I'm not a builder. Work at construction site is not an easy work - you are always surrounded with noisy construction equipment, mud, tired faces of builders. I mean, even not carrying bricks on the top floor of the building under construction, but seeing and facing all the above said will make you feel tired. Being on site and being a girl means wearing old jeans, trainers and sweatshirts. Which means you do not look like a girl any more. The longer you choose that look, the faster you stop paying attention to your appearance. You stop noticing how fast you can become an ugly duckling. Boys around you will stop seeing a girl in you. Will you be happy after that? I do not think so. But let's face it, that in the end, every girl and some boys, like dressing-up.
Dear friend, you are free to wear anything you want. Waking up today or on Monday and wanting to put on something different from what you choose every day for office (but do not wear too much sequence), I completely support you doing so. Do not be scared. Do not feel shy to look different from everybody around you. If you look different, in a good way, more people will notice you, and unfortunately, people treat you better, when you dress better.

During my first days on construction site I was scared to wear anything else but jeans and a T-shirt. Being a girl, who sometimes does not mind putting on her back a fancy clothes, I couldn't bear wearing old jeans 5 days a week. One thought was always bugging me - I have a lot of fancy clothes, my life goes on, who will wear that clothes while I do not put off jeans every day? Fashion changes fast and when I finally can wear those fancy pieces, they might be out of vogue. I couldn't stand wearing shitty clothes while better clothes was covering with dust in my wardrobe.
So, I decided to wear whatever I want.
I like this faux fur top a lot, because it's warm and extremely soft. When people feel how soft the top is, they want to hug me. So I feel myself like a teddy bear whom kids are fond of hugging. (It's recent H&M collection). My old pleated skirt which still looks good despite being 10 years old. Violet suede boots (Promod)
As you can see I started putting on anything I want for the office work day whenever I feel inspired.
Even working with builders at construction site a girl can look like a girl.
I hope you like my girly look and this inspirational post.
Be yourself. Be bright.
Hugs,Alyona
